I’m Janice from SoCalSewingMom. I was so excited to be part of the Mara Blouse blog tour. This is the first pattern I’ve sewn by the lovely Marte from Compagnie M, even thought I’ve already purchased her Louisa Dress pattern and drooled over the many versions I’ve seen all over the internet.
I sewed this pattern up over several days after work. The pattern went together beautifully, which is not always the case with pdf patterns. Until I read the directions, I hadn’t even noticed that the blouse had some very sweet pintucks under the bodice.
The pattern went together perfectly, and has several options. I love the sleeve option I chose – kind of like a cross between a regular short sleeve and a flutter sleeve. The instructions were very clear – I had absolutely no issues whatsoever putting this together – how many times can you say that about a pattern!
Here’s my version:
I used London Calling Lawn from Robert Kaufman. I added mini-pom-pom trim from Riley Blake around the bodice. Instead of making fabric loops for the buttons, I used a few hair elastics. I’ve always had better luck using the hair elastics! I added an elastic at the bottom hem, as this blouse is intended to be worn with some yet-to-be-finished shorts.
Thanks so much Marte for letting me be part of your blog tour – I’ll definitely be making more Mara’s!
