Wow! We were really honoured that our blog was chosen by Marte from Compagnie M to participate in her Big Mara Blog Tour. Since there are two of us, we decided to each make our own version of the Mara. This way, we can illustrate the versility of this pattern:
In no time, the blouse can be turned into the cutest little dress. You can even choose to add a colored band on the bottom. No worries, Marte explains very clearly how to draw your own dress-pattern.
Both of us wanted to sew a very summery, short-sleeved Mara. So we chose a bright-coloured fabric. We both wanted to work with ordinary buttons instead of the loops, so we changed the pattern a little bit. Well, we think the pictures need no more words, so… Enjoy and watch those little darlings shine!
Ordinary buttons and kamsnaps.
Short sleeves, bright colours and a cheerful pattern.
It fits like a glove!
Since I’ve got teeny tiny girls, even the size 2 didn’t fit my almost-4-year-old! Some extra pleating in the back took care of it.
Every little girl is fond of pockets, to hold all of there treasures. I added pockets in the sideseam, based on the Lotta-dress, another great pattern by Compagnie M.
A wavy seam, because we love retro!
You can take our word on it: this pattern is sewn in no time at all! Little cursing, clear pictures and a step-by-step guidebook, it has Compagnie M written all over it. Want to try it yourselve? Our advice? Yes, you can!
