Hi everyone, I’m Maarika and I’m blogging at Liivi & Liivi (http://liiviundliivi.blogspot.de). I’m very excited to be part of Marte’s big international blog action tour and even more excited to share my latest ‘Mara’ with you.
I have to say that I just love this pattern. It is simple with a twist, classy yet playful, has a vintage touch to it and offers a lot of room for personal modifications. What else can you ask for? After having already sewn two Mara blouses before – both with a vintage touch and rather clean sleeve options – I felt like doing something new this time. I wanted to create something that called for summer, something that was cute and more playful than the versions before and something that was very girly and romantic. So I decided to turn the blouse into a comfortable dress with an A-line (you find a tutorial in Marte’s instructions).
When I saw this cotton fabric with an allover flower print in a local store at home I knew this would be our next Mara. The flutter sleeves and rosebud-buttons completed the romantic touch I was looking for.
Since my daughter is always hunting for treasures and never comes home without seashells, little rocks, flowers or herbs in her pockets I also decided to alter the pattern a wee bit for this tour by adding hidden pockets to the dress. I love how it gives the Mara blouse a little personal touch…
