Since I’m launching my Lotta dress pattern next Monday and still haven’t shown my last pocket option, I’m publishing two blogposts today! The reason why I didn’t show you this dress yet, it just because this Lotta was not sewn for one of my own girls… I made this Lotta for Nohre, the very cute little girl of Bjorn’s ex-colleagues Benjamin. He’s this teddybear-type-of-father that take good care of his daughter and is following my blog for a while now… A couple of weeks ago he asked me where he could buy a ‘Compagnie M. style dress’ for Nohre’. At first I didn’t want to commit myself, but after making 3 Lotta dresses for Lisa & my own Nore (which was named after Nohre), I though it would be interesting to sew for a bigger girl. So at the end I did!
Benjamin and I went fabric shopping together at Julia’s. A funny thing is that he didn’t dear to enter this shop by himself: a man alone in a fabric shop!? No way! Once inside the decision was easily made. I wanted to use tho Free Sprit fabric for a long time already and Benjamin loved it as well. I’m so happy with the choice we made. It suits Nohre very wel!
I think Nohre has a very special expression. She never stands still! But after chasing her for a while at the playground, I got the right pictures to show my last Lotta dress options.
I added side seam pockets to repeat the folded detail again. It’s a more subtle option that I personally love most. At the back, I closed the dress with buttons an button loops. The ideal solution for people that are frightened to add a blind zipper or to make buttonholes.
I’ll be launching my Lotta dress pattern this Monday. A very last but important detail I would like to share already with you: next to the cap sleeve option, I also added the bodice pieces with regular armhole openings. This way you can also mix and match this pattern this the sleeves from the Mara blouse & Louisa dress! So the Lotta is the perfect summer dress, but can be worn in other seasons as well…
That what makes Lotta worth adding it to one’s pattern collection: I’m so bad at math I can not even calculate any more how many dresses you get bying one pattern!
That’s basically the idea behind Compagnie M. I love versatile patterns but when you’re able to combine patterns, that’s when you really get endless options!
Heel mooi! Ik kijk al uit naar het patroon!
I can’t say enough how much I love this dress! and this version is so so pretty!:)your button loops are exquisite!
