I bought this very beautiful Belgian sewing book ‘homemade minicouture‘ a while ago, but didn’t really used it yet because the patterns start at the size of 3. This book is divided in two parts: one for boys and one for girls! I choose the Mambo dress because I thought the fabric matches the pattern perfectly!
The patterns in the book are really creative and I like this model a lot: the front neckline is higher than the back neckline, which makes this dress almost a grown-up one. At the front are some ruffles added to give the dress some volume at the top, but to be honest, I would leave these ruffles out, if I’d make the Mambo again. I think ti probably works on bigger sizes but for my 2yo girls, it’s not really necessary… I was having doubts whether I would use this fabric for the Tinny dress by Straight Grain, but at the end I’m glad I used it for this Mambo dress. Here I am again with my white piping! Since I started using white piping, I keep choosing this ‘colour’ because it’s just so plain and simple! I couldn’t catch one of the girls yet to take pictures, but to be honest: the middle part is a little bit to narrow for Nore and Lisa! Such a pity, because they are not really big for their age. I’ll have to find a smaller 3yo to give away this Mambo dress…
And now something totally different! Isabel A. is the happy winner of my meter vintage fabric! Congratulations Isabel!! I think this fabric is very similar to the one I’ve used and would be perfect for a dress like this.
very cute !!
mooi stofje, en die witte paspel is er perfect bij
knap jurkje… mooie combinatie met die stof en witte paspel!
Prachtig!
Mooi zeg!
Beautiful dress! I love it.
Supermooi ! (deze stof in de turkoois-bruine versie is mijn favoriet … maar als ik dit jurkje in deze kleurenversie zie … misschien moet ik die ook aanschaffen)
Oooh, liefde op het eerste gezicht. ..
Wow, hele mooie versie !
Heeel mooi!
hier net uit hetzelfde stofje ook een jurkje gemaakt :)
I adore this dress! I have a 2 year old little girl who would look so sweet in it. I will definitely have to check out that book! What fabric is this?
Gorgeous! This book looks like a great resource to have and will get a lot of use:)
The dress is absolutely lovely! But I would also skip the bodice ruffles. Sometimes less is more…
Do you know if there is an English or French version of that book?
Absolutely true! I don’t think there is a English or French version of this book. I’ll check it for you.
If you are experienced enough, I’m sure you can sew this without instructions as well… If you like I can send the book to you. Just let me know! Marte
Very pretty!!
