I am excited to have joined the Mara Sew-Along with 59 other bloggers. Mara is a beautiful pattern and it inspired me to create something new. With so many options it had me thinking for days. What fabric? What colour? Contrast? Long sleeves, short sleeves? Flutter sleeves, butterfly sleeves? Dress, top, tunic? The choices were endless.

Sometimes when I sew, I just stick to the pattern, I don’t even consider changing it. With Mara it was different. From the outset I was enticed to design something really special. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and went all out on creating something that I am really proud of.

I used a number of sewing techniques for the first time. I found self-made piping around the yoke particularly challenging. Click over to Needle and Ted to see the twelve different techniques used. And if you know your terminology, perhaps you could share the knowledge. Pleeease!!

To complete the look, I made some matching triangle pants. More about those soon on Needle and Ted. Today it’s all about Mara, with it’s distinctive yoke and it’s feminine silhouette.

great work ! that a very nice idea to custom Mara! i love i
