September is the month of some free stuff! Today I’m showing you how to make a Charles dress! To sew this dress, you’ll have to adjust some Charles pants pattern pieces first, but believe me: it’s super easy! And I don’t let you draw the new back piece yourself. I did that for you! :) So with 10 minutes of your time you can sew a completely new dress with your Charles pants pattern. Yeah!
You can download the Dutch and English instructions together with the free pattern piece HERE, HERE and HERE! ;) They will be added to the new free stuff page too, once it’s been set-up! I added a lot of drawings for you to help you through the patten adjustments! You can even choose to make this Charles dress more A-line shaped too.
This is the result. Lisa is super happy with this dress. It’s different from all the other dresses in her closet and of course she likes the foxes fabric (bought at Bobby Sewing). I combined it with a super soft fabric from Mon Depot. Winter outfit number 2: check!
If you’d feel like sewing this dress too, but don’t have to Charles yet, I have great news for you. Nee hoor! Deze was al lang klaar eigenlijk. Van lang voor onze naaidate. Voor de rest bleef alles hetzelfde! :) Ik zou niks willen wijzigen van wat we samen kozen. ;) Ligt hier wel nog allemaal te wachten om genaaid te worden. Iets voor volgende week. En dan kom ik de week erna weer graag samen knippen. Was zo gezellig. M

ja, tof! Ik was al in die richting aan het denken, maar dan misschien inderdaad met een A-lijn rokje…
Ik heb het al vaker gehoord: ik was niet het enige met dit idee. Jeuj! En dat A-lijn rokje kan je dus perfect met de handleiding ook maken. Doen dus! :)
Deze stond al op de todo-lijst, maar komt nu dan maar direct helemaal bovenaan ;)
Ik zag het resultaat intussen al! Super dat je er direct gebruik van hebt gemaakt. Hopelijk was het duidelijk!

Hi I adore the Charles and this hack, I had a little trouble though where the back waistband has ended up higher than the pockets so they don’t join up correctly, I think I have followed instructions correctly and the extra pattern piece for the skirt back includes seam allowance so didn’t add any to this, I have made age 1, has anyone else noted this issue or does it seem that I have gone wrong somewhere making the pattern pieces? Just trying to identify how to put it right on my next attempt x
