Sewing Pattern launch: the Louisa coat for girls (1 – 12yo)

The 1st of September I started working on this project, seven weeks later I can finally launch a new pattern: the Louisa coat for girls. A quick introduction to this winter coat! (Make sure to read all the way till the end…)

The Louisa coat by Compagnie M. is a variation on the popular Louisa dress. With its unique pockets and two back options, you can play with fabrics and piping. Add a collar and flower for a vintage look or a hood and cuffs for more active moments. Play with buttons or add a zipper for smaller kids!

The Louisa coat is a versatile pattern with many options! You always sew the typical Louisa style pockets. Of course, who would want to skip those? ;) Add the back you have two possibilities: a plain & simple version or one with extra curves to play with piping. These lines have a connection with the hood or the tulip collar. But of course you can choose the basic collar too. You can choose a zipper of buttons to close the coat and add some extra touches with the cuffs and flower. Enough to make several coats with a different look like I did.

In this pattern you can learn some new techniques! Of course sewing a coat can sound rather challenging, but I can assure you: if you can sew the Louisa dress, you can make this one too. I’ll learn you how to add a zipper and how to sew a perfect lining with ease, but without topstitching the hem. And I give you a lot of tips on what materials to use. The right interfacing and batting are so important to get a perfect coat.

Exceptionally this coat is available from 1 – 12yo. Just because my first test pattern turned out way too big! So accidentally I got two new sizes without extra work! So if you have doubts: girls till chest measurement 78cm can wear this coat. Hooray!
