Pattern launch: the Nina skirt and culottes

I can’t believe that it’s actually been 5 months since I launched my last pattern, so I will not be telling lies: it’s a great feeling to finally launch a new pattern. A two-in-pattern in fact! Maybe that’s why it took me this long! ;)

The pattern includes sizes 12, 14yo, XXS – XXL. I always provide a pattern WITH and a pattern WITHOUT seam allowance. Both in the digital and paper version. The instructions are really detailed. My personal goal was to give every seamstress the perfect pattern to start with. Your very first skirt! Later on you can add more advanced techniques like the fly front zipper or one of the welt pocket options. The welt pockets tutorials can be found on our ‘tutorials’ page. As you know my paper patterns don’t include a paper booklet, but this is of course the reason why I don’t print my instructions. The instructions include 42 pages, so I advise you not to print them but to use your tablet, laptop or smart phone to follow the instructions. If you like to print them, just print the pages you’ll need. Let’s try to save the environment! :)

So let’s first talk about the options again: you can either start from an A-line skirt of culottes. To close your Nina, you can choose between an invisible zipper or a fly front zipper. And of course no Compagnie M. pattern without pocket option: diagonal pockets, faux flap pockets, double welt pockets, faux double welt pockets and a double welt pocket with button & button loop. The icing on the cake! The waistband can have a small or large overlap and when you’re a big fan of piping like me, you can add some between the pockets flaps, the side seam, waistband,… Add lining according to the season.

The pair of culottes I’m showing you today is my personal favourite one. Stylish, don’t you think? A new Marte! In this one I’ve chosen these options: fly front zipper, diagonal pockets, piping from the pocket towards the side seam. I show you this little extra detail in the instructions too! This idea comes from Kathleen that added this beautiful touch to my Charles dungarees.

The fabric is one of my Paris trip treasures. I think I paid about 10 euro for 1,5m of this amazing fabric. I’m sure you will spot it again on An’s blog since we shared the 3m piece! I assume she will make a stunning coat this winter for one of her beautiful girls. My best guess! :)

I know that some of you still have to get used to the idea of sewing a pair of culottes for yourself, but I can only say: just go for it! It’s super comfy! Maybe we can set a new trend together?
