Because I will be participating the romper series hosted by Sewing Mama RaeAnne soon, I’m testing my first romper models. Although I’m not sure whether there is a different between a romper and a playsuit, this is what I had in mind… For the top part I was inspired by a picture that seemed to be popular on Pinterest. Check my Pinterest boards if you like to see what inspires me! Probably you’ll find the one that was my inspiration for this rompers… On the internet rompers are defined like this: ‘ a one-piece garment combining a shirt and short, bloomer-like pants, worn by young children’. To be honest I was trying to find out whether there is a difference between rompers and a playsuit. But I think it’s actually the same. Correct me if I’m wrong! So this is the bottom part: a wide short that makes this playsuit very comfy!
Last but not least: I’m becoming a big fan of the blind zippers. I think it’s the An Syndrome (An from Straight Grain is the blind zippers champion!) ;I have a second model of this playsuit ready yet. I’m optimising the pattern because a fifth free pattern will be launched next week! Hope you like this model. Always nice to have some reactions. Do you feel like making this for your girl?

Ik ben het patroon aan het uittekenen maar ik vermoed dat Mona niet meer in mijn versie voor 6 jaar zal passen… Je kan het natuurlijk wel altijd graderen! Zo grappig trouwens dat je met een tweeling toch ook nog altijd dat idee hebt: dat is voor Mona. Ik heb dat bij mij ook: dat pakje is echt iets voor Nore en niets voor Lisa. Bij het passen zei Lisa dan ook direct: Noortje aandoen! Om aan te geven dat het niks voor haar is. Twee jaar en al goestingskes… Ik moet nog eens dringend iets voor Lisa maken. :)

Maar schoon zeg! Kzou’t zo maken al bedenk ik me net tegen dat Ida dat aandoet (nu 2) is die volop potjestraining aan het doen (de zomer dus) en dan is zoiets niet echt handig, ofwel???
Hey Sofie, Nore heeft hier gisteren volop potjes training gehad in dat pakje en dat is eigenlijk niet echt een probleem…Ritsje open en het valt zo op de enkels. Maar die opmerking van Marloes vind ik lastiger! Een vraag waar ik niet bij heb stilgestaan vermits ik die van mij ook nog steeds moet helpen voor alles aan en uit te doen!
I’m usually not a big romper fan, but this is awesome!!! I love the one pocket detail-BEAUTIFUL! I have yet to learn how to sew zippers. I don’t know why it scares me…

Heel mooi, maar hoe gaat mijn 5-jarige dochter dan alleen naar het toilet vraag ik me dan af? Of ben ik nu gewoon te praktisch aan het denken?
Wat een terechte opmerking. Echt een lastige vraag. Ik denk dat ik het patroon nog eens goed onder de loep ga nemen. Ik heb er niet bij stilgestaan dat die oudere kids dat al zelf moeten kunnen open en toe doen. Dat gaat dus niet! Ik kom hier op terug. Ik ga wel niet zo goed slapen nu denk ik: weer ontwerpen in mijn hoofd als ik in bed lig… Dju toch. ;-)
Rits in de zijkant, zouden ze dat dan zelf kunnen opendoen? Of in tricot maken, en bovenaan wijd genoeg of met iets dat heel makkelijk openkan zodat ze het naar beneden kunnen trekken? Of gewoon rits vooraan? Maar dan kan je niet met dat asymmetrische werken natuurlijk. Ik weet het dus ook niet, maar ben benieuwd met welke oplossing jij misschien wel voor de dag komt!
Ik ben er nog niet helemaal uit: ofwel laat ik het gewoon zo: dat is het soberste. Anders moet ik vooraan knopjes toevoegen zodat het vooraan opengaat. Morgen teken ik alvast de ritsversie verder uit. De knoopjesversie moet ik nog even bedenken… M
This is very cute! Is there a way to alter it a little and put snaps in the crotch so it’s easy to change diapers?
Yes you can, but how can I explain this easily? Just add two small bands to the crochets (measure the length of the crochet and you can make it 3cm wide). The best way to add this is to fold the small band double (wrong side together) and serge it (folded) to the crochet….Right sides together. Do you understand what I mean? Then turn the small band down and topstitch. Add the snap buttons. Have a look at my post ‘gifts’ to see this in detail on my jumpsuit gift. I hope this makes sense? I’ll make a mire detailed instruction ons day and add this tutorial.

Je suis Grand-Mère d’une petite Louise qui aura 5 ans le mois prochain, et commence à porter des vêtements en taille “8 ans”.
Je lui ai déjà cousu il y a quelque temps une “Louisa dress”, et je commence tout juste une “Judith dress” (sans instruction en français…j’espère que je vais y arriver!!!)
Je souhaiterais lui confectionner un combishort, comme celui qui est asymétrique dans votre collection.
