Sewlikethat – Mara

Details: This pattern is for a blouse that has a tutorial included on how to make it an A-Line dress. That’s the option I chose here. Sizes: 1Y to 10Y, so you can get a ton of use from this pattern. The pattern comes with four print options. With/without seam allowance, home printing, or shop printing. I love that feature! It also comes with a few sleeve options. I used the long sleeve option and shortened it. The pattern also comes with instructions on how to make the pin tucks.

Fabrics/Notions used: Mustard yellow linen. A type of white and black swiss dot. Pink piping, pink buttons, and pink single fold bias tape.

In the beginning of the pattern we are fought how to make bias tape for the dress. I chose to use store bought single fold bias tape around the neckline. Piping around the bib portion of the dress and the sleeves. Per the pattern you will use the self made bias tape for the button loops. That is another element I chose to change. I used black stretch cording.

Silly little girl was being so serious for this photo shoot. If I got a smile it was accompanied with a fun pose like this one:
sew6We absolutely love this pattern and it has quickly become one of our favorites! Please don’t be intimidated by the details. It is easier than you may think and the directions are very clear.
sew7I love the detail of the piping at the bottom of the sleeve and I think it would also be cute on the flutter sleeve even though it adds a stiffness. Sewlikethat
