The Lotta dress pattern tour: Dandelion Drift

Marte – thank you so much for having me here! I am so excited to be sewing along with you and your newest pattern! Hi Compagnie M. readers. I’m Teresa and blog over at Dandelion Drift. I am so privileged to be sewing my first Compagnie M. pattern with the Lotta Dress pattern. Let me tell you, it is one awesome pattern!

When I’m looking for a new pattern to sew, I first look at style, but then look at whether I’m going to learn something new, and will I sew the pattern again and again. The Lotta dress answers a yes to all three of my criteria. I love the simple clean lines of this dress. It has a classic style, with a modern twist. That’s my ideal style! And the options of this pattern. You can have different pockets, a different skirt, different back openings. This lets me know I can sew this pattern over and over again without my girl’s closet looking like it has gone on repeat!

And I just want to show you all the back of this dress. This is my first time sewing an invisible zipper, and thanks to Marte’s guidance, I think it came out pretty well! In fact, I have a dress hanging in my closet that I want to rip out the zipper and start all over again with an invisible zipper now that I know I can tackle it!

So let me talk to you about the dress I sewed. I used a gauzy eyelet material I found at the thrift store and paired it with Palos Verdes Voile to line the whole dress. The only change I made to the pattern was to line the skirt portion, and while I was at it, it would be a shame to not let a little of that skirt lining peek out, so I made that about 1/2 inch longer than the actual skirt!

I love all of the details of this dress…it ends up looking so professional! Thanks Marte for having me along on this tour! And I can’t wait to see all of the Lotta dresses your readers will be making!

Thanks a lot Teresa for this amazing dress and pictures! Funny to see that you and Rachel used the very same fabric, but in a totally different way. I’m glad that I discovered your blog through Elegance & Elephants!
