Hi everyone! I’m An from StraightGrain, and I’m so happy to be part of this pattern tour. I loved the collar of the Lotta from the first sneak peek I saw on Marte’s blog, and I’m very happy to have been able to make my own Lotta now.
The fabric I used was picked by my daugther Norah. It is Cloud 9’s English Plaintain, which had been part of my stash for over a year. I’m so happy with the result, that I decided to give away a yard of it to a Compagnie M. reader (the give-away is at the end of this post).
The Lotta sewed up really easily. Making the dress (from assembling the patterns to finishing the pockets) took me just 4 hours. I went for the invisible zipper, and picked the patch pockets because I knew Norah would like those the most. The instructions were clear and the steps very simple. The only changes I made were related to serging.
As Norah is very slim, I went for a size 3 instead of a size 5, and lengthened bodice and skirt. The bodice is still rather wide, so it’ll probably fit perfectly this Summer. Which is great, because Norah cannot really wear the dress yet, as the undershirts she still wears do not combine with the cut-out neck line of the Lotta. Belgian weather…
I decided not to add buttons to the flaps, because I already used a fabric with a very busy print. With the buttons it would just get too much, so instead I ironed some fusible interfacing between the flaps and the bodice/skirt to keep the flaps in place. Norah really loves her Lotta dress! She wanted to wear it all day, and looks really cute in it. She’ll be wearing it a lot this Summer. Thank you so much for having me here today, Marte!

Love the dress! I’m trying to enter the giveaway on Rafflecopter, but it makes directs me to log in to create my own giveaways…am I doing something wrong? I only wanted to enter, not create an account.
Has the coupon expired? I try to enter and it says the coupon for the dress has expired. Thanks!
I love the fabric choice, by the way. I wish I had an eye for fabric. I wouldn’t think about buying it, but seeing it made into a dress… it’s so pretty!
