The Louisa coat hack: 50 shades of blue…

By 04/11/2016Blog

One of my favourite things about drawing patterns is to see how you add your own touch to my work. Not only by choosing fabrics and notions, but also by hacking them. It’s just so creative when you use my patterns as a starting point to create something new. That’s the reason why I introduce the ‘pattern hack category’ again in this contest.

A hack can be very subtle like the one I present today. Or you can go all the way like Eva did last year by combining elements from other patterns with this coat.

The sky is the limit! If you feel like hacking one of my coat patterns, now is the time. It’s a separate category again in the contest with some great prize packs!

For this coat I got some lovely coat fabric from Editex. It’s a beautiful and super soft fabric that suits Nore very well!

I combined it with 50 shades of blue. A sparkling blue fabric for the cuffs, the piping, a blue ‘see you at six‘ fabric for the lining and a different blue again for the zipper. One from my personal stash. That’s why! Add some blue in Nore’s outfit and you can count about 7 types of blue in these pictures…

As mentioned before my hack is really subtle. I just skipped the big pockets at the front by following the fleece lining working method. I added a small Louisa pocket. Actually it was rather difficult to make the small curves with the piping. That’s why I only added one in the end…  A vintage white button to add a small extra touch. No not blue. Why not? I don’t know!

How about you? Are you ready to hack my Louisa or Lewis coat patterns? Or maybe both. You can participate several times in the contest. Ready set go!
