When Sylvia asked me to draw a 2nd Lila dress view, I couldn’t get this one out of my mind. I love reversible dresses. You kind of get one for free! ;) And if your toddler makes a mess, you can just turn the dress inside out!
I found 3 fabrics in my personal stash that match perfectly. This feathers fabric is a precious Birch. I’m in love with both the print and the color. I used this Birch fabric for the ‘inside’ and in the same color scheme I found a woollen fabric and a small Art Gallery left over from this project.
To create a Japanese look I added a small standing collar.
On the ‘inside’ we taped the bodice and skirt pattern pieces together. This way you only have one pattern piece for the front and one for the back. On the ‘outside’ we kept the split between the bodice and the skirt. This way you get two different results in one dress.
I love the idea that when the toddler moves, you can catch a glimpse of the contrasting fabric on the inside. Or outside!? It just depends on how you look at it! ;)
You can see a couple more super cute pictures on Sylvia’s blog!
ooooooh, waaaaaaauw!! It just gets better and better!! How completely adorable!!! And how smart with the inside out dress and still such a different look! I absolutely LOVE it!!!
(PS. Just letting you know I just wrote a blogpost about the ileana dresses I made a few months ago… Not that it has anything to do with this fantastic Lila dress of course!)
Thanks for your enthusiasm!
