The Susanne cardigan is a new pattern that I will launch soon. Next week to be precise. :)
As you know pockets are important in all Compagnie M. designs, so obviously also in this one. The big folded pockets are ‘addictive’! From the first second you’re wearing the Susanne your hands automatically end up in the pockets. This is what makes the Susanne so comfy.
And maybe one of the other super important note: this cardigan comes together so fast (depending on the options you choose of course). Once you’ve cut your fabrics, it only takes about 1 – 1,5 hours to get this basic Susanne finished. Really!
You can sew the Susanne in different types of fabric. But that’s what I’ll show you the coming 2 weeks! I’ve sewn 5 cardigans for myself and my girls even got one more! 11 in total. In no time!
I can’t stop buying fabrics that I think are perfect for this project. As the fabric turns at the pocket it really nice to use fabrics with 2 different sides like this one from Jo Devisscher. This is probably one of the softest fabrics I’ve ever worn. And of course I love the look too. I’ve just checked and Helena has some left in her shop. Do buy this one! And no, De Stoffenkamer is not sponsoring this blogspot! ;)
The pattern includes several ways to finish the raw edge at the front. This is the easiest and quickest way. A rolled hem. Now don’t you think this is difficult… To be honest, it’s my very first rolled hem on my own serger Oops! You just have to take your time to read your machine’s instructions and then this technique becomes addictive. I do advise you to test this rolled hem on a scrap of fabric before you start finishing the edge of your precious cardigan. You will have to adjust the setting depending on the type of fabric you use. I’m a big fan of the trial and error method… Only when I’m 100% happy, I finish the edge of my cardigan.
Some practical info maybe? I will launch the pattern in these sizes: 30 – 50 and for girls too as I mentioned before. 22 sizes in total divided over two patterns. As usual. Stay tuned because I will show 4 more versions this week. This is the long option by the way. Did I already mention that? I have a short option too.
Love to hear what you think about this new Compagnie M. design. I hope you like it!? And of course last but not least, I would like to thank Bjorn AGAIN for taking these beautiful pictures. He always says he still has to learn a lot, but I love the result. Posing is not the favourite part of my job description but with a result like this I’m ok with it! ;)
