Hi, my name is Jenya, I blog at While she was sleeping.
My love affair with Compagnie M patterns began with the Mara Blouse. I have already used this pattern twice (here and here), and been planning a winter version already when I responded to Marte’s call to get involved in a secret blog action not knowing she would ask participants to sew this very pattern!
I had some gorgeous vintage Clydella fabric left, and I knew it would look fabulous as a winter version of the Mara blouse. It is winter in Australia, so this fabric is perfect as it is 19% wool.
This pattern has details that I absolutely love – piping, buttons and pin tucks. I love the vintage meets modern look of the Mara blouse. It has the right proportion of challenge and simplicity for me. There are many ways to mix and match pattern pieces to customise the final look.
I decided to sew this blouse as is… Well, apart from the neck finish. I did not have enough fabric to follow the pattern instructions, so I used store bought bias tape and finished the neck opening in a slightly different way.
My daughter appreciated the vintage buttons I used for her new blouse. These buttons are truly gorgeous!
When I asked my daughter if she liked her new blouse, she said she loved it! Phew!
Thank you for having me Marte!
