Hello,
Nathalie here, writing from western France (Le Conquet, Bretagne).

Just about when I realized that my son needed a new winter coat, Marte released the Lewis coat pattern and launched the Compagnie-M 2016 sewing contest. Perfect timing to give me the push to make it happen !
We live in a very windy and rainy climate, so I selected a medium weight scuba (2mm) for the main fabric. I added some color with accent pockets, made from a multicolored pixel coated fabric. Instead of piping, I chose to add reflective ribbon inserted in the split back and front pocket flaps; since my son walks to school, this will help him be visible, safety safety…

For the lining, I used a super soft faux-fur in a deep petrol blue color. And there is an additional fleece layer hidden inside for more warmth.

As for the sizing, I sewed a size 11 with size 12 length, and we (me and my son) both like the fit.
Scuba was probably not the better choice for this pattern, since it was almost impossible to press it flat. I decided to topstitch most seems in petrol blue, this way they would lay flat, plus add little pop of color against the black.
That’s it. A brand new Lewis coat to stay warm and dry  through the ‘breton’ winter. I hope you like it as much as we do !
