This is a Foxy Louisa Coat that I made for my daughter (being very enthusiastically modeled by my son as it’s a bit big for her yet – it should be the perfect size for autumn! It’s also a trifle small & short for him but that didn’t stop him wanting to claim it as his own). I’d been wanting to make some animal coats for my children and had a pattern ready to go but when I saw the Louisa coat, I fell in love with the a-line shape and big pockets and knew that would be the perfect pattern to use. I decided that an autumn/spring weight coat would be more immediately useful winter one (it’s summer in Australia – 39 degrees the day I took these photos!) so I used cotton duck to make the coat – it’s sturdy enough to provide structure but won’t be too warm for autumn. The duck is tightly woven to provide some degree of water resistance and I might scotchguard it see if I can’t waterproof it a bit more. It’s lined with red rayon which makes it easy to get on/off. Liam loved it so much that despite the heat, he played in it long enough to get pretty dirty and has requested his own wolf one with blue eyes :)
Thanks very much for a wonderful coat pattern,
From Steph
