My Honey Bunny Louisa coat

As my “little” girl is finally reaching the length to fit into most of those beautiful sewing patterns out there, I can’t stop making new additions to her closet. Therefore, I was thrilled with the release of the Louisa coat at the end of October. Exactly the type of jacket I was looking for! I think I might have been one of the first customers purchasing the pattern, eager to finish her coat before winter would come into town. Luckily I could score the most beautiful mustard/honey coloured wool fabric and matching lining at our local fabric shop. And as “little” girls can cope with a certain amount of cuteness, I decided to hack the pattern by adding some bunny ears to the hood. The faux fur has such a soft feeling that I wanted it to cover the entire inside of the hood. Therefore the same hood pattern pieces were used for both the inside as the outside.
To keep the attention on the bunny ears, I also decided to make an alteration to the pockets and redesigned them as simple as possible. Without curved lines and without contrasting piping. Great was my surprise when I discovered Marte had had exactly the same idea when designing the pockets of the Lewis coat…

Léonie has enjoyed her coat a lot, as well as the compliments she is getting when wearing it ;-) (The perfect picture is missing, as my toddler really isn’t into posing). And I was so delighted about the pattern that I immediately decided to make her a second one, in a bigger size so it’ll fit her next winter…
